Integral blinds

For bi folding doors, windows and conservatories

Morley Glass the UK’s No1 manufacturer of Screenline blinds the only viable option for light control in bi-folding and sliding doors.

Integral blinds in glass are a neat and stylish alternative to curtains, external blinds and other window dressings for your home or business. Choose from Venetian or pleated blinds which fit perfectly inside the double-glazed unit, and means they won’t get damaged and will never need cleaning.

Morley Glass & Glazing is a specialist manufacturer of sealed units with integral blinds inside, supplying other sealed unit manufacturers, fabricators and installers with our high-quality Uni-Blinds® in an industry-leading 10-12 days from 10am on a Thursday, backed by a 5-year guarantee.

All our sealed units are Argon filled and feature a double seal which helps guarantee the quality and energy performance of your windows and doors, long term. Two seals mean extra protection – giving you peace of mind that you won’t have problems in the future. The secondary seal also gives the insulated glass unit (IGU or sealed unit) its structural strength, ensuring there is no chance of movement once installed. This is especially important in larger sealed units used in patio and bi-fold doors.

Integral blinds can be fitted inside any window or door in sizes from 300mm to 2600mm wide and in any frame – timber, aluminium or uPVC – and can even be retrofitted into existing doors and windows. They are easy to install – the same way as any other sealed unit.

They are also the only practical solution for sliding patio doors, French doors and bifold doors, as they don’t interfere with the opening mechanism and sit neatly inside the panes of glass.

Adding a stylish finishing touch to your room, integral blinds in glass are perfect for controlling room temperature, maintaining privacy and protecting your furniture from fading. They give you the ultimate in protection from the heat and glare of the sun whilst remaining dust and dirt-free – forever. They are also available in triple glazed sealed units.

In addition to residential uses, Morley Glass offers a range of high quality integral blind solutions that enable architects and designers to take a different approach to shading and privacy in public and commercial environments too. Our range includes integral blinds for the healthcare sector, which perfectly balance a long, low maintenance service life, with hygiene and simplicity in switching between the need for patient monitoring and providing a private space.

Choose from two blind types

Innovation comes built-in

Benefits of integral blinds

  • Helps regulate energy – integral blinds give you better control of the temperature of your home, helping you stay cooler in summer and warmer through the winter. Depending on the colour of your blinds and whether they’re Venetian or pleated in design, integral blinds can keep out up to 70% of heat in the summer (solar reflection), keep out up to 78% of sunlight (light reflection) and absorb up to 88% of the sun’s heat (solar absorption) – creating a more comfortable home.
  • Totally hygienic – because they are sealed inside the glazing, integral blinds are dust and dirt free which makes them more hygienic than traditional blinds and other window dressings. Integral blinds are often used in hospital and schools because they do not require cleaning and are hygienic. Plus, the SV system is operated using an external magnetic slider which is treated with the Sanitized® patented antibacterial finish, for long-lasting protection.
  • Child friendly – children can very easily pull the cords or put their fingers inside traditional Venetian blinds and cause damage or potentially hurt themselves. Integral blinds are child friendly as they are safely positioned inside the double-glazed unit. Our C System is operated by a continuous cord loop which is held lightly under tension by a cord tensioner which fully complies with Make it Safe, a campaign from the British Blind and Shutter Association (BBSA) to promote window blind safety in all homes, public buildings and other environments where babies and young children may be present.
  • Ideal for homes – integral blinds are sleek, stylish and popular with homeowners. They are particularly suited to bi-fold doors, sliding patio and French doors, which are increasingly popular in conservatories, orangeries and kitchen and house extensions.
  • Ideal for businesses and other commercial premises – in the commercial market integral blinds are installed in external glazing, curtain walling and facades, as well as internal partition walls to create privacy and also control the heat and glare of the sun, and create better working environments.
  • No cleaning and maintenance free – integral blinds are sealed between the panes of glass in double glazed windows and doors. They are not exposed to the elements, dirty fingers or dust. The blinds are inside the glass, so they never need cleaning and are maintenance free. They are a fit and forget product.
  • Solar control – integral blinds are the ideal solution for controlling the heat and glare of the sun. They provide privacy and shading at the pull of a cord or the press of a switch.
  • Easy to install – sealed units with integral blinds inside are easy to install. They are suitable for all types of frames – aluminium, timber and uPVC – and are fitted in the same way as any other window or door. Even our motorised blinds – the W Swipe and the MB System - are pre-wired and fully tested, making for a smooth and problem-free installation.

Energy efficiency built-in

All Uni-Blinds® feature a warm edge spacer bar to ensure the thermal insulation and energy efficiency of the sealed unit is maximised. The stainless-steel spacer bar is co-extruded with polypropylene to enhance the benefits of all ScreenLine® integral blind systems and energy saving qualities – all within the perfect hermetic seal.

Slimline blinds

We have also introduced a slimline integral blind, the SL16 System, the first integrated blind system designed to accommodate a 16mm cavity thanks to its exclusive 10mm slats. It’s the perfect solution for composite doors and vertical sliding windows.

Warm edge spacer bar

  • Reduce the generation of humidity on the glass perimeter
  • Improve the thermal insulation of the profile due to its low thermal conductivity
  • Ensure low Psi value (halving heat transmission through the perimeter compared to a standard extruded aluminium spacer bar)
  • Reduce the thermal transmittance value of the window, irrespective of the material used for the frame.
  • Our warm edge spacer bars are fitted in black as standard or light grey on request.

Integral blinds for commercial buildings

We also produce a range of integral blinds for the commercial market. Commercial blinds are ideal for offices, schools, hospitals and other commercial premises. We offer two commercial blind systems.

The B System, which is particularly suitable for window cill applications such as structural facades, hospital wards and schools, as the manual control device is located at the bottom of the blinds for easy access from a low level or seated position.

The P System comprises a Venetian blind incorporating a 12.5mm slat designed to be integrated in a double-glazed unit with a 20mm capacity. The system can be used in almost all types of existing window frames, whilst the special design of the manual operating system allows the aesthetic quality to be maintained in whatever environment it is installed. The P System is ideal for public buildings such as hospitals and government offices, where a variety of people need to operate this simple but highly protected system.

Both our integral blind systems for commercial buildings are available for delivery in four weeks.

make it safe

Window blind cords and chains can prove a risk for babies, children and other vulnerable people who could injure or even strangle themselves on the hanging looped cords. The potential problem is eliminated by the use of Uni-Blinds®, as the blind is inside the double-glazed unit, so effectively away from any misuse or danger. In our corded systems we use an external continuous cord loop that is held permanently against the glass, eliminating any chance of the cord hanging in a loose loop which could be dangerous.

Our cords confirm to EN13120 for cord safety and we are a member of the Make it Safe campaign, a campaign from the British Blind and Shutter Association (BBSA) to promote window blind safety in all homes, public buildings and other environments where babies and young children may be present.
